I used this as a backup/second router that was offline to a security system, here the camera system was on the router to a hard drive separate from the internet. It can be hooked up to a second LAN network for internet access where the separate routers are recommended. I used it this way where i could turn on the LAN on the separate LAN network for a second router as needed to separate a home WiFi router to a second one for dedicated items.
