On the Ibanez SR375EF, the small toggle switch is a 3-way Power Tap switch for the PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups, letting you select between a thick humbucker, a brighter single-coil, or an enhanced single-coil with more bass, adding significant tonal versatility beyond standard pickup blending.
How the Power Tap Switch Works
The SR375EF's pickups are humbuckers that can be "tapped" to sound like single-coils, offering three distinct modes:
Neck Position: Taps the humbucker for a single-coil sound.
Center Position: Full humbucker (series wiring) for powerful, rich tone.
Bridge Position: Taps the humbucker for a different single-coil sound, often described as adding bass depth.
