These vintage kits are frequently identified by their thin Lauan mahogany shells, unique wraps, and various brand names like Apollo, Whitehall, or Tempro. Pearl made drums under hundreds of labels, including Apollo, Lido Supreme, American Custom, Whitehall, Cooper, Astro, and ZimGar. Other than the snare, these have no badges. These drums are known for their "funky" sound, 3-ply Lauan mahogany shells with reinforcement rings, and distinctive, often vibrant pearl/strata wraps. This one is the 1969 Pearl Blue Agate. If you peruse a 1969 Pearl Drum catalog, you will see the hardware used throughout. While they were considered entry-level "copies" of American kits (like Slingerland or Rogers) at the time, they are now popular, affordable collector's items with a distinct vintage tone. These drums are a significant part of the 60s/70s Japanese "stencil kit" era. Some of the stands are missing rubber feet. Chrome is nice all around.
