Primary duties of the ARNP include working closely with the radiologists to assess patient post-biopsy results and provide diagnostic information and resources. The nurse practitioner will collaborate with leadership and management in this work. The nurse practitioner works closely with radiologists to communicate findings and to transition patients to the appropriate breast surgeon and oncology team within the respective hospital systems. The nurse practitioner provides patients with a short term follow up plan and resource materials. The nurse practitioner provides biopsy wound care, clinical breast exams, interprets and records results of clinical tests and reports results to patient’s primary care physicians. The nurse practitioner implements the overall “fast track” program, including consultation, risk assessment and patient transition to further care.
