The hatchery sold me these pullets as chocolate eggers. They are beautiful birds, friendly, calm, and quiet. But the eggs are brown (see picture) not chocolate. $45 each
Hatched 3/26/25. Started laying 8/21/25.
I have novogen white leghorns, easter eggers (same age) and brown novogens available if you want to mix/match to get white, russet, brown and blue/green/tan eggs. Some of each type are laying, but not all.
This is my first year with these.
Info from the hatchery:
expect 3-4 eggs per week
the hens are very hardy (heat and cold)
they love free ranging and are good foragers
they have a good feed-to-egg ratio
generally funny, chatty birds *** my comment - they are nice tempered, friendly, quiet birds, I'm not sure about funny or chatty...they talk a lot when being fed, but not much at other times.
Regarding communication and sales:
I use email to do communications to set up see/buy appointments. I have had poultry stolen when I used phone/text.
I don't monitor emails or sell on Sundays.
