PLU has a four-station eating area on campus that employs over 20 professional kitchen staff and serves over 1000 meals a day during the academic year. The kitchen is an exciting, fun and ever evolving place to work and learn.
This position is temporary to start and upon a successful completion of your 90 day temporary period turns into a Full Time with Benefits position. PLU offers full benefits (medical, dental, vision, 403b), 14 paid holidays, 10 days of vacation and tuition remission.
Reporting to the Operations Managers, you will work with a passionate team highly respected because they lead and inspire helping us accomplish our company mission every day.

Here's more of what you'll get to do:
Prep food, utilize the standardized recipes, production sheets, temp logs, waste logs and other kitchen resources.
Restock china, utensils, beverages, cereals, condiments and salad bars.
Clean food storage areas, utensils, equipment, floors and utilize the 3-compartment sink and commercial dish machine to clean china.
Properly cool, label and store food in refrigerators, freezers and storage rooms.
Interact with customers on a regular basis.
Have fun in a fast paced environment!
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
The ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms with team members and customers.
The ability to utilize effective time management.
Ability to work in a team setting and follow established procedures and protocols.
The ability to multitask and have an extensive understanding of customer service principles to provide exemplary customer service constantly and consistently.
The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
The ability to stand and walk up to 4 hours without a break.
High school diploma or GED.
High standard of personal hygiene.
Valid WA State Food Handler's Permit or the ability to obtain one before beginning employment.
Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
Upon successful transition to a full time with benefits position a physical exam and drug screen testing (including marijuana) must be completed.
