1940 Chris Craft Barrel Back 19' Runabout and trailer.
This Chris Craft Barrel Back has the unique but VERY RARE orange striping on the decks which Chris Craft tried to introduce in 1940; the dealers wouldn't accept the change from the traditional white and only a few boats were delivered with the orange and pig skin combo. The orange Really pops the warmth of the mahogany.

The gauges were also 1940 only & are considered some of the most attractive Chris Craft used.

The boat also has the unique split windshield.

It has a waterline custom cover & a great Custom Carlisle trailer.

The boat is in almost PERFECT shape cosmetically and mechanically; better than new.

The boat is virtually all original wood except for the 1 bottom board which was replaced during the restoration in 2012. The best restorer restored boat.

The engine & trans were replaced with a Merc Cruiser chevy V8 cranking three hundred plus horsepower and a bullet proof hydraulic transmission. The engine has fresh water cooling allowing it to be used in fresh or salt water. It's been maintained annually since; run & inspected. A stock engine is also available.

Beyond the wood, everything in the boat was replaced or rebuilt. It's been completely re-wired, the gauges re-furbished & like new, the steering wheel is a work of art, all chrome re-done, etc. Nothing was scrimped on during restoration.

This Chris Craft Barrel Back has two hours on the restoration, all on our shake down cruise in 2012. The bottom is sealed (between the two planking layers) with DuPont 5100, a product that expands & shrinks with the boards eliminating the need to soak the bottom after dry storage; it's ready to go. The interior was done in faux pig skin which was what the original this boat was delivered in. It has the orange striping on the decks which CC tried to introduce in 1940; the dealers wouldn't accept the change from the traditional white and only a few boats were delivered with the orange and pig skin combo. The orange Really pops the warmth of the mahogany. The gauges were also 1940 only & are considered some of the most attractive CC used.

It has a waterline custom cover & a good trailer.

The boat is in almost PERFECT shape cosmetically and mechanically; better than new.

Chris Craft Barrel Backs were considered the pinnacle design in runabouts for Chris Craft and only manufactured for three years, 1939 to 1941, and only about four hundred seventy were built.
