This has been a fun project that was built with lots of new parts, based upon feedback I've gotten from people over the years. It started with a good frame and fork. A nice set of wheels with Sun Rhyno Lite Rims laced to Shimano Deore hubs was added. A brand new 1x10 drivetrain consisting of a Shimano Deore shifter and rear derailleur, new cassette and chain was installed. The 1x10 gearing gives a fairly broad range without the additional maintenance of a front derailleur. Great for casual riding, commuting or singletrack. Finally, a raised stem, riser handlebars and bar ends were used to provide a comfortable, upright riding position. Finally, mechanical disc brakes were used because they work well, are cheap and easy to maintain, and are a better choice for most people than hydraulic discs.
