**This is the 1977 version, some others have been made in the 1980-90s and a tell is the large logo of Avalon Hill Game Co in the bottom right corner on the front of the box
The 1977 Rail Baron Game by Avalon Hill is a strategic board game that allows players to build railroad empires by strategically adding tracks, cities, and routes to optimize their transportation network. With its focus on strategy, players must carefully plan their moves to expand their empire and outwit their opponents. This vintage game offers a nostalgic gaming experience for fans of classic board games and strategy enthusiasts.
Complete in the sense it has all the parts required to play. Original parts are included minus 1 white dice. Does have extra color chips than most of the games I’ve compared to having only 2 each. Overall, in good condition, looks like light usage, some parts look new, some wear on the box, has small stain on center map board under the words North Central.
What the game originally included and what is included now:
United States Mapboard, yes
Rules Folder, yes
Payoff Card, yes
28 Rail Line Title Cards, yes
6 Express Train Cards, yes
6 Superchief Cards, yes
6 sets of Tokens and Matching Colored Chips (colored chips include: 4 black, 5 blue, 3 green, 2 white, 2 red and 2 yellow) Most games and parts lists I’ve compared to only show having 2 color chips each
Set of 2 White and 1 Colored Dice (3 white dice, 1 red dice, two of the smaller white dice are probably not original)
Pack of Play Money (30 x $500, 30 x $1,000, 30 x $5,000, 61 x $10,000, 15 x $50,000)
Avalon Games brochure Fall/Winter 1978 and misc papers
4 black plastic strips (not every game I’ve compared has these)
