You or your friend or family member has a favorite chair which needs to be reupholstered. As we are approaching the holiday season, this is a perfect time to get that done! Our labor prices are much lower than most shops because we work out of our home and we have very little overhead.
Cushions in your new or used camper/recreational vehicle can be preserved and/or restored with new slip covers. And everyone has a chair or knows someone who has a sentimental piece which needs to be made beautiful again with new upholstery.
There is a wide selection of indoor/outdoor fabrics for your patio furniture. Interior decorating is much more fun than its ever been. The possibilities are endless, if you browse Pinterest you can get ideas for accent pieces which I can closely replicate. Burlap, feed sacks and grain sacks are popular choices for the inside back of your chair, using complementary fabrics for the arms, cushions and outsides of the chair. Ticking is popular and stone washed denim is becoming popular.
Provide the dimensions you need or bring your existing cushions. Styles of your choice, boxed cushions with or without welting, knife edge, waterfall with pleats, ties, etc.
With an industrial sewing machine and 15 years of experience, I can provide you with beautiful back bolsters, corner bolsters, and seat cushions. We carry a few fabrics and can provide photos from our limited selection. These photos reflect examples of my work and the items I've constructed for customers. Most often your foam is re-usable, we can steam it for sanitation and often restore it to its original cut/size.
We have a supply of 3" polyurethane foam which can be doubled to 6". We do vertical cuts for sizes to meet your custom needs and can save you money. Otherwise Perfect Fit McDonald is a good source for custom cuts and various densities and thicknesses. And they are the best places to advise you about latex foam and mattress tops. We don't have the equipment to cut latex foam.
We will be happy to entertain your needs for boat interior work but we have size limitations. Our cutting tables are 5'x8' so if you have very large one-piece bow cushions it might be best to find a shop which specializes in marine upholstery.
And please, I need to stress ITS IMPORTANT TO PROVIDE ENOUGH YARDAGE, especially if you want welting ("piping"). I work in a timely manner and like to get your job nicely done so it's best that I don't pre-measure your materials. Yardage charts are available but my experience has been that Joann's often underestimates your needs. So if they tell you to get 10 yards and the pattern has a large repeat, then please get 14 yards. FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: If you want welting please avoid micro-suede, it has no stretch and appears wavy. I recommend "woven" fabrics such as chenilles or tapestries. Acrylic and polyester based Indoor/outdoor and denims, twills and natural hemps are good as well. For outdoor pieces, I strongly recommend Sunbrella. Ebay usually has a wide selection of colors at reasonable prices. Again, please make sure enough yardage is available. You want good quality so be careful to read descriptions and avoid those that say "upholstery/drapery" fabrics or ones that are dyed. My recommendation for reasonably priced indoor/outdoor fabrics is Fabricguru.com.
Before starting your job, especially if we cut foam, we need clear, concise and accurate written instructions with dimensions and sizes, and maybe color the references if necessary. If you supply your own materials and have a question about how your own pre-cut foam will fit, please ask us to complete one piece (such as one dining chair) before continuing, especially if we only have the decks and not the chairs themselves.
