Here for sale is an Astrosonic 100 from Magnavox in aesthetically decent condition, and mostly functional. Recently refurbished and partially restored. An amazing piece for the particularizing audiophile and vintage/mid-century enthusiast. Vinyl not included!
As far as the guts and general function, it fires right up and makes clean/clear sound. The needle/cartridge on the phonograph could use a change, and is readily available, but is still serviceable currently. Just skips a little extra (but that's what nickles are good for). There are a couple of funny hiccups with the autoplay function, I can't diagnose them. I'm getting FM loud and clear, but either the loop antenna for the AM is either missing or a non-functional. Pretty sure there is an external antenna hookup. There is also a Left Right RCA for an AUX channel, so Bluetooth or aux are available with a little work.
The collector that had it before upgraded the speakers, added some crossovers to them, and put in an after market A-B-Y from Radio Shack to be able to port out speakers to other rooms, so you can have a whole house system if you are industrious!
This unit is 2 prong, it would take some real work to put in an iso and ground it that way, but it does have a grounding lead to center tap. I've used it ungrounded and never had any issues, but I also plug/unplug everything while the unit is turned off. As is a good idea with all old electronics, I also unplug the unit when not in use.
I love this thing but I'm moving again soon and need to downsize a bit. Bring someone to help move, you pick up. Potentially might deliver locally for a fee. Asking $125 OBO.
