We’re a small, five-person watch manufacturing shop in downtown Stanwood — and we've only had one person leave in seven years.
We build purpose-built Mission Timers® used by military and professional end-users, and we take the work seriously. We’re looking for one local candidate (within ~30 minutes of Stanwood) who’s dependable, detail-oriented, and wants long-term, steady work with a team that shows up for each other.
We can train the right person. What we can’t train is attitude, integrity, or care.
If you take pride in your work and want to learn a skilled trade, you’ll fit in here.
About ARES
ARES Watch Company is a small, family-owned American manufacturing brand based in downtown Stanwood. We design and build purpose-built Mission Timers® for real-world use, supporting military, law enforcement, first responders, defense, and outdoor communities. As domestic production expands, we’re hiring a Watch Technician to help build, service, and quality-check our timepieces.
This is an in-person, hands-on role at ARES HQ. We will train the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
Perform battery and strap replacements
Conduct water-resistance testing and replace case gaskets as needed
Complete basic quartz watch assembly
Replace crystals and perform quartz movement swaps
Execute quality-control checks on finished watches
Assist with case and strap finishing work
Support production, service, and fulfillment as required
Maintain a clean, organized bench and contribute to workflow efficiency
Who Thrives Here
Individuals who take pride in precision, craftsmanship, and mission-driven work
Self-motivated team players who can work independently with minimal oversight
People who enjoy hands-on mechanical tasks and want to learn watchmaking from the ground up
Detail-oriented professionals who bring consistency, accuracy, and care to every step
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Relevant hands-on technical experience preferred (not required)
Ability to communicate clearly — verbally and in writing
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures
Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude
Prior watch experience helpful but not required; we will train and develop the right candidate
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Range: $21.00 – $26.00 DOE
Flexible schedule
Paid holidays
Complimentary membership to the gym next door
Opportunity to grow into advanced watchmaking, assembly, and manufacturing roles
Small, tight-knit team environment where your work directly contributes to real-world missions
Bench Skills Test
Because this role involves small components and precision handwork, all applicants will complete a brief bench skills test as part of the hiring process. This is not a pass/fail “watchmaking exam” — it simply confirms comfort with fine-motor tasks and the type of work done daily at ARES.
Team Panel Interview
Because we’re a small team, everyone’s role matters. Candidates will participate in a team interview so we can make sure the fit is right for both sides. We want you to meet the people you’d be working with every day — and we want them to meet you.
Background Check & Fitness for Duty
Because this role involves access to tools, inventory, and sensitive customer information, employment is contingent upon a standard background check. Candidates must also demonstrate reliability, trustworthiness, and the ability to safely perform precision, detail-oriented work as part of their normal duties.
