Garage Sale in Edmonds. Saturday, February 21. 8a-1p.
Come enjoy a “Discovery Sale” featuring the estate of a world-renowned folk artist whose tole painting work spans decades, from the early 80s until the present day.
This well traveled woman single-handedly put together studio tours and painting workshops for hundreds of people around the globe, bringing a massive resurgence to this forgotten artform and inspired many to paint on every flat wooden or metal surface they could find.
There will be an auction of paintings held later and I can provide a link to it after the garage sale, but for now the sale is being held at her family home where she lived from 1971 until just recently.
Please DM me for the sale address.
If we’re lucky, the artist herself will be on site from 9a until noon and she’ll regale us with stories and details about the different varieties of tole painting you’ll be able to see and purchase.
On offer will be various works of hers, as well as works created by other world-renowned artists (from Russia and Switzerland). There will also be art supplies, home goods, furniture, and an entire shop full of woodworking tools that belonged to her late husband.
There will be a Hold Table where you can save items while you “shop” the house. Please be courteous and do not take other people’s items from the Hold Table.
Once you have all of your items with you, please take them to the Sale Table where we will negotiate a flat price. Haggling is welcome.
As someone who learned to tole paint at the ripe old age of 12 back in 1986, just as tole painting began it’s resurgence, I couldn’t be more honored to be hosting this sale and look forward to seeing everyone there.
