Not like cheaper and very light, sexy looking regulators with Chinese semiconductor components (typically of short lifetimes). They use delicate electronic devices to protect delicate electronic devices. In contrast, this unit has only copper windings, a capacitor and a special magnetic core. It is immortal.
We have used it with our large HP computer systems in CA. (We have an extra unit still in use with our home computer and audio-video equipment)
The regulator keeps the output voltage at chosen 120v or 240 v steady, in spite of input voltage fluctuations.
It also filters out noise in typical power lines, and surges/spikes that blow out computer and audio equipment. These spikes occur by lightnings on transmission lines or by high power switching gear as they re-direct power from different electric generation companies and sources. Your household also may contain high power inductive load equipment. Vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens, refrigerator-freezers, some garage equipment like compressors, power saws etc). You can hear the spikes these produce by the clicks you hear on radio, TV and audio equipment.
We installed these these regulators after a bitter experience of loosing a computer and a lot of data with it. The in-line electronic protection gadget burned up also, but without saving our PC.
It is darn too heavy for us to ship. Therefore it is local pick up for cash.
