This UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) relies upon the Ferro-resonant technology in contrast to the current cheaper concept of capacitor switching. The capacitors have a limited charge discharge lifetime and determine the earlier demise of the current technology. The older approach is heavier, and more robust with a much longer lifetime.
The unit in listing was used as back up in our lab instrumentation.
We did not use the two batteries that go into the cabinet of the unit (If you choose you can by those in Amazon with the search: Battery Elgar IPS-1100 12V)
Instead, we used two 12V truck or marine batteries that are cheaper and do a better job, although they stay outside the unit in the back.
If you want to place the batteries inside the compartment reserved for them, you will need to use the wire harness and jumpers shown in the pictures. The connection of the jumpers are also shown in the pictures.
Ferro-resonant unit we are listing is a rare item and will outlast the current technology devices.
The unit is reasonably heavy.
