$2900 firm - priced to sell and due to condition. No trades
Once my daily that I retired for a newer car back in 2019. My original plan was to build this out into a track toy, however I never went through with it. Rather than letting it sit and rot even more, I want to get rid of it. If you're looking for a good looking reliable daily driver, this isn't it. It needs some work cosmetically and electrically. This is more for anyone looking for a project to restore or have fun and thrash on it. It's been sitting since early 2020.
This MK5 is very dirty/grimy from sitting outside without a cover. I tried to clean it as best as I could so everything is more visible. The inside is in dire need of a deep clean & detail. Some slight mold due to sitting for 5 years but nothing major. Below is why the price is as low as it is.
The Good:
- Runs & drives*
- Is tuned
- Comes with a bunch of mods on the car
- Timing belt good for another 60k
- Brand new cam follower
- Brand new serpentine belt
- Brand new LPFP
- Decent price
- A total blast to drive and toss into corners
The Bad:
- Has damage to front and rear passenger side fenders (rear being the worst)
- Stock 17" Huffs are thrashed
- Front bumper clips broken
- Front bumper and front fenders drilled for ties to hold it together
- Clear coat peeling on the nose of the hood
- Endless amount of rock chips on the hood
- Front Votex lip paint peeling
- Paint imperfections all over in general (in dire need of a very deep cleaning and paint correction)
- Headlight lenses need restoring
- Tail lights are not that great (stock tails will come with the car if you want to swap them)
- Tint needs to be taken out or redone, it's bubbling/waving really bad
- Will need a new battery
- Will need new tires (currents are way too old to be safe)
- Small rust spots here and there. Mostly on the back hatch where a corner of it is rubbing the bumper shelf
- Engine bay dirty/grimy, ignition coil D clip locking tabs broken
- Yes, this FSI consumes a decent amount of oil like all high mileage FSI's do. It also dumps some smoke screens from time to time (moving to a catch can from the PCV delete plate will resolve this)
- This car was smoked in
Now for the "exception" mentioned above:
Cabin fuse box needs replacing (you will get a replacement with the car, just requires splicing)
Several fuse spots had shorts from an improper dashcam hardwire install. Because of such, some circuits have issues. Main ones are the blower fan/heater, wipers/sprayer, and fuel pump. So sometimes the car will shut off if the fuel pump circuit drops. Because of this, I do not recommend driving this car until the fuse box is fixed. But you can if you want. I'd recommend trailering it instead to be safe.
This MK5 is ragged and was driven hard. As I mentioned above, this would be better as a project or fun thrasher. Not a daily driver / first car for a family member as it needs work. The good news is the vast majority of the work needed is cosmetic. Mechanically speaking it's good, just needs light electrical work. It can become a daily if you revive it and don't care about how it looks.
This VIN also has Stage 2+ HPFP tunes tied to it, as well as Stage 1 maps. If you transfer ownership of them to your name, you'll have them all aval to switch to and from. Fully loaded ECU also comes with valet mode, stock map, and lockout.
I also recommend doing the transfer so you can have an APR Dealer set a custom flash order to your liking. Changing maps is done via the CC stalk and watching how many times the CEL flashes
