Vintage AMP Research mountain bike up for sale. AMP Research helped kick-start the modern full suspension movement by introducing the Horst link, so named by company founder, Horst Leitner. Leitner's patented single-pivot link revolutionized full suspension design. Specialized eventually acquired the patent and made the Horst Link the foundation of the majority of it's XC and Trail MTBs. The patent has since expired and other MTB companies are now using the Horst link on many models.
I bought the bike when it was first introduced in the mid-90's. It's been to Moab three times and ridden at most of the best trails from Bellingham to Olympia, and the Methow Valley.
It's a light, quick bike that is an epic climber and can handle any XC trail.
It features a Manitou front shock (elastomer pre-load), and a Risse rear air shock. Risse shocks are selling for $200 on eBay! Deore 8-speed with a triple crankset, and Gripshift.
The frame is solid. Wheels are tired and the Deore group needs a refresh.
I'd like to update it as a project bike, but I need the shop space.
