Vintage sixty-six year old Orvis "99" impregnated split cane bamboo fly rod, made in December 1960 by George Reed and Calvin Skinner, both famous Orvis rod builders. One owner purchased in March 1961. Model "99" 2-piece 5 1/2 ounce 8 foot 6 inch, aluminum reel seat, 7-8 weight. Has original tube and sock. Serial number #26757. Manufacturing date and purchase date verifiable from Orvis. The rod, cork, wraps and sock are in great condition and the tube is in good condition. All original. Fish it or put it on display. Own a rare piece of history. None listed on eBay. Would make a great gift for that fly rod fisherman you know.
