The 1940 edition of Collected Poems of Robert Service is one of the most well-known comprehensive single-volume covering most of his famous Yukon ballads (The Shooting of Dan McGrew, The Cremation of Sam McGee), along with war poems, Paris poems, and later works into one large book.
Robert William Service (16 Jan 1874-11 Sep 1958) was a Scottish-Canadian poet and writer. Often called ‘The Poet of the Yukon’ and ‘The Canadian Kipling’. Bank clerk by trade, his bank sent him to the Yukon which inspired his two poems, ‘The Shooting of Dan McGrew’ and ‘The Cremation of Sam McGee’.
