Blue is a stunning Golden Retriever–German Shepherd mix (with a bit of “etc.”) and truly a king of dogs. At around 2 years old and approximately 80 lbs, he is fully grown but still has his youthful energy, easy charm, and teenage good looks. He was with an elderly woman until recently, and unfortunately, is too large for our situation.
Blue is exceptionally well behaved indoors. He is completely housebroken with zero accidents, does not chew anything he shouldn't, never steals food, and respects household rules beautifully. He settles well on his own — while he may whimper briefly when his favorite people leave, he quickly relaxes and does just fine alone.
He’s a wonderful travel companion and rides well in his crate in the car.
He’s quiet, with very little barking, though when he does bark it is quite authoritative.
Blue Kuma is fantastic with kids and very friendly with all people of all ages. He loves meeting new humans and quickly wins hearts with his soulful eyes and gentle demeanor.
He enjoys a balanced life of outdoor adventures and indoor naps, and he never turns down a good scratch or affection from his family or some tug of war.
He’s an excellent running partner and can happily go for miles.
He is very food-motivated and eager to please, and very easy to train.
He walks well on short or long leash.
He is often growly and lungy to other dogs, is it aggression or excitement to meet them? I am not sure, and we haven't had him long enough to try training around it. I believe he previously lived successfully with two other dogs.
He has some prey drive, so maybe would be best in a home without cats or small animals.
Blue Kuma is best suited for an active home that can provide regular exercise, structure, and continued training. He is neutered, microchipped, no medical issues, and believed to be up to date on vaccinations. Vet records can be transferred.
This is a truly wonderful dog, and we are committed to finding him a safe, active, and loving forever home
