Rehabilitation Specialist - Over-Night (West Seattle)

compensation: $18.24 per hour with a $2.50 weekend shift differential

The Rehabilitation Specialist’s goal is to provide consumers with serious and persistent mental illness a higher quality of life in a safe and therapeutic environment. The Rehabilitation Specialist will be expected to work with a diverse population and must be sensitive to the culture, religion, language, age, gender, and sexual orientation of the population served.

1) Supports each resident’s individualized treatment plan to assist him or her in developing the skills needed to successfully live and work more independently in the community.
2) Precisely monitors and documents consumer medication compliance. Educates consumers regarding the role and use of medications.
3) Develop therapeutic and effective working relationships with consumers, while maintaining professional boundaries.
4) Spends a majority of time in the house milieu, motivating, teaching and assisting consumers in self-care, practical living, leisure, and interpersonal skills, as appropriate.
5) Monitors consumers' health care needs and substance abuse issues and reports concerns or incidents to consumer’s primary case manager, agency RN, or supervisory staff.
6) Effectively intervenes in consumer crises, including consulting with agency staff, on-call supervisors, and Designated Mental Health Professionals regarding potentially dangerous or problematic situations.
7) Encourages and assists consumers to engage in work or other meaningful activities.
8) Reminds consumers of appointments with prescribers, and assists in preparing them for other appointments as necessary.
9.) Documents each consumer’s symptoms and behavior in the daily shift log, and in the client’s record as appropriate.
10.) Conduct regular safety checks of the facility. Monitor and document the presence of residents on site.
11.) Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: shredding confidential documents, copying and stocking forms and med room supplies, general cleaning of the staff office space.

1) Contributes to cooperative working relationships with clinical teammates and with supervisors, and other staff within the agency.
2) Solicits and provides case consultation and coordination as needed.
3) Presents a positive professional image of the agency to referral sources and other service providers and community resources needed by agency consumers.

BA/MA in Human Services field (e.g. psychology, social work) plus two years treatment experience working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. Other residential or social service experience may substitute. The position requires agency affiliated counselor registration, home care aid certification (agency to pay for required 75 hour training), a valid driver's license, first aid/CPR training, HIV related training, 2-step TB test, criminal background inquiry, and fingerprint ID. The employees driving record must be acceptable in order to be able to drive Agency vehicles.

$18.24 per hour, non-exempt position. Additional $2.50 differential for weekend shifts.

30 hours per week. Flexibility of the three over-night shifts, 11:00pm to 9:00am, except no Friday shifts, and may include one weekend shift. Rehabilitation Specialists are expected to participate in the agency’s on-call system. On-call hours require being available by phone to be called in immediately and are reimbursed at $3.00 per hour. All rehabilitation staff are required to work overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts.
