Title: Part Time Custodian/Events Supervisor/Dishwasher

Reports to: Church Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor
Receives work direction from: Church Administrator, Church Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor
Schedule: 20 hours a week. Schedule is somewhat flexible but hours are mostly during the days and Wednesday evening.
To provide a clean, sanitary, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for a 100,000 square foot Church and Office facility. Position is approximately 25% dish-washing and 75% custodial duties. Supervision of rental groups is possible for the right person.
o TO BE PRESENT WHERE NEEDED, READY TO WORK AS NEEDED TO MEET POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES. Includes recognizing when situations require more effort, seeking approval for additional time if needed, satisfying responsibilities in a timely manner and providing an example of punctuality and attendance.
o COMPLETE WEEKLY CLEANING SERVICES ON A SCHEDULED BASIS.This includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, deep cleaning bathrooms and cleaning kitchen areas.
o TRASH AND RECYCLING. Pick up trash or recycling as required.
o USE ALL EQUIPMENT IN A SAFE MANNER. Maintain equipment in an operational manner.
o KEEP TOILETS FULLY STOCKED WITH PAPER AND SOAP PRODUCTS. Keep an adequate stock of cleaning supplies in all areas to meet cleaning requirements.
o ASSIST WITH GROUND MAINTENANCE. Perform lawn and grounds maintenance and snow removal, salt and sanding in season as assigned and required.
o AS ASSIGNED. Wash windows, strip and wax floors, shampoo carpets and upholstery and polish furniture.
o BUILDING GROUPS. Meet with and assist user groups that use the space.
o ROOM SETUPS. When assigned, set up rooms prior to scheduled meetings; including setup of tables, chairs and required equipment. When present, respond to additional meeting setup requirements requested by meeting participants.
o SECURITY. While cleaning building be aware of the presence of other people and make sure they are in the building for a valid reason. Assure that buildings are locked and secure at appropriate times of the day (at the beginning and the end of the day). Take security actions to maintain safety and order.
o PLUMBING/ELECTRICAL/PAINTING. Applicant should have a basic understanding of these areas and be able to make minor repairs as needed.
Dish-washing duties include but are not limited to:
• Clean all dishes used in the preparation, serving and eating of food in SFBC.
• Put away clean dishes, serving utensils and tableware.
• Spray down all floor mats and set them out to dry.
• Clean the dish washing area and dishwasher, as well as any sinks where pots and pans are soaking.
• Clean and sanitize all counters and wooden butcher blocks.
• Wash all dirty rags
• Sweep and mop the floors.
• Set out all trash, recycling, and compost for disposal by custodial staff.
• Break down buffet line, to include washing and storage of hotel pans and chafing dishes.
• Wash pots and pans in soaking sink.
• Wipe down two door fridge and polish with stainless polish.
• Check inventory to order cleaning supplies and paper products.
• Assist chef in preparation and service of food.
• Report any kitchen issues to Facility Maint. e.g. improperly functioning equipment, missing items, general disarray of the facilities.
• ALL DUTIES MUST BE COMPLETED THE SAME DAY/EVENING OF EVENT.
o OTHER TASKS AS ASSIGNED. Applicant understands that this is a summary of tasks to be accomplished and other tasks will be assigned as appropriate.
o Demonstrated skills, interest and aptitude in this type of work.
o Must be able to work independently to accomplish task within allotted times.
o Must be responsible in carrying out high quality work.
o Ability to learn parish activities and procedures.
o Valid drivers license is required.
o Ability to work independently without direct supervision during regular
o working hours.
o Speak fluent English.
o Ability to follow written supervisor's instructions.
o Knowledge of cleaning materials and chemicals.
o Safe use of all materials.
o Knowledge of safe operating and maintenance of cleaning machines, such as vacuums and floor scrubbers.
o Maintaining a positive and helpful attitude at all times.
o Must be trustworthy and honest.
o Must be discrete with parish information.
o Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
o Must have the ability to be mobile, frequent standing, pulling and pushing, climbing, bending and carrying up to 25 pounds.
o Job is contingent on successfully passing Boundaries/Safe Work Environment Class and criminal background check. Drug/Alcohol screen may be required.
o Position is non-exempt, hourly. Pay is $20.00 per hour.
