Truly one-of-a-kind Steinway & Son, Model "D", nine-foot Concert grand piano, Serial Number 217577. Originally commissioned in 1923 by movie mogul producer and director Thomas Ince. Featured in Architectural Digestion in April 1994. Must see to fully appreciate.
This masterpiece was constructed with a custom solid Tiger-grained oak lid. The sides, bottom, and legs are all custom hand-carved ebony.
The piano has been refurbished including re-strung, re-felted, and the sound board re-covered with gold leaf.
It has been appraised by a Steinway & Sons contractor as being in "excellent condition" and valued at over $107,000. Full replacement cost is estimated at $256,000.
A state-of-the art QRS piano player system is installed with 6,500 programmed songs. The player can be removed, if desired, which would have no influence on the sound integrity of the Steinway, and no evidence of existing on the piano.
The piano is currently kept and controlled atmosphere and is available for viewing in the Seattle area. Shipping can be arranged for outside of the Seattle area.
Professional appraisal, Steinway & Sons certification of authenticity, and history of the piano available upon request.
