Hexcel is currently seeking a Metrology Specialist for our Kent, WA, USA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
Calibrate, repair, and modify electrical and electronic standards and related instruments used for calibration by interpreting circuitry drawings and by following established procedures
Make and maintain metrology measurements such as flow, mass, force, length, and time
Establish the accuracy of various mechanical and electrical measuring tools and standards
Repair and rework electrical and mechanical measuring instruments and standards by determining the nature and extent of damage, cause of malfunction, replacing defective parts and making adjustments to meet operational requirements
Maintain records of test results and calibration schedules
Record and analyze calibration data to develop appropriate correction factors
Perform in lab and on site Pyrometry calibrations at Hexcel, Kent Valley facilities
Perform dimensional calibrations
Performs troubleshooting, repair maintenance, calibration, and certification traceable to the National Institute of Technology (NIST) on Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
Responsible for maintaining Quality records and participation in audits
Frequent communication with customer
Operate at all times in compliance with the Hexcel Kent Quality System and Quality Policy
Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct
Model safe working habits and champion safety in the workplace
Schedule and coordinate calibration activities with manufacturing, lab, and support personnel
High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences or Electronics preferred
Three (3) years experience in the operation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electronic, electromechanical, standard and precision measuring equipment in a manufacturing and/or standards laboratory environment: or, equivalent technical training in the repair and calibration of precision measuring equipment, and the science of measurements (metrology)
ASQ Certified Calibration Technician rating is a plus
Previous experience working under AS9100 or equivalent regulatory quality assurance program
Ability to perform autoclave and oven temperature surveys per specification requirements and certify for customer review
Ability to perform time, temperature, and pressure calibrations for automated presses.
Ability to perform calibration of: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread plugs/rings, dial indicators, torque wrenches, pressure gauge, instrumentation
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of electronics, including the ability to set up and operate standard metrology instruments such as oscilloscopes, counters, meters, function generators, power supplies, etc.
Working knowledge of calibration databases, such as GageTrak
Excellent documentation skills required
Capable of generating written calibration procedures
