Pure Watercraft is creating revolutionary electric marine propulsion to ensure a future where boating will be clean, quiet, and powerful. With your help as our Manufacturing Engineer we will provide the highest performance and reliability electric outboard system available on the market.

We are looking for a highly motivated person to join and help create manufacturing equipment and processes for our outboards and battery packs. In addition, this position will work closely with Design Engineering taking designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production. This position will be responsible for managing individual pieces of equipment with vendors as well as providing technical guidance for others.

Pure Watercraft is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.  Our engineering prototypes have already delivered more than 1,000 hours of high performance boating.  We have entered our beta program and are gearing up for full commercial launch. Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and fixtures

  • Develop or troubleshoot new or existing product issues involving designs, materials or manufacturing processes

  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or to reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts

  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness

  • Review product designs for manufacturabilty and completeness

  • Determine root causes of failures or recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods, using statistical procedures

  • Prepare documentation for manufacturing processes or engineering procedures

  • Design layout of equipment and workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency

  • Collaborate with design teams to develop in-house manufacturing process and equipment

  • Closely collaborate with and manage external equipment integrators on custom equipment design

Requirements:

  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for new and unique products

  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production

  • Experience designing mechanical equipment, fixtures and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Experience developing equipment specifications

  • Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment

  • Knowledgeable about production quality metrics

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills in English

  • BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent

  • 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Fast-growing startup experience

  • Electric vehicle and/or electromechanical products experience

  • Experience with manufacture of batteries and/or high power systems

  • Experience with safety critical systems

  • Experience developing robust systems for harsh environments
