As Inventory and Quality Specialist you'll serve as an operations super star at Food Lifeline by supporting our food inventory and quality control of over 42 million pounds of food, equaling 35 million meals for food insecure people across Western Washington last year. You must excel in supporting the smooth day to day operations in our amazing fast paced warehouse at the Hunger Solution Center in the South Park neighborhood. General Position Summary:

This position supports the recordkeeping and inventory management of product received and delivered by Food Lifeline. Ensures accurate inventory levels, from receiving and receipting to order processing. Ensures the integrity of the database and supports all inventory management strategies.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

• Preforms quality inspections on product shipments at the time of receipt.
• Coordinates and performs inventory functions in the ERP system, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Works cooperatively with all Operations staff to ensure accuracy in all quality control and inventory activities.
• Performs cycle counts and walkabouts, completing necessary adjustments and reporting out to other stakeholders.
• Ensures accuracy in receiving paperwork, all data entry and necessary for job function.
• Maintains all inventory and receipting files for accuracy and appropriate documentation to be reviewed annually by auditor and as needed by management and leadership.
• Monitors product handling for compliance with food safety, and inventory and quality control standards.
• Monitors disposal and recording of product not meeting Food Lifeline standards.
• Prepares and/or reviews reports to ensure data entry/database accuracy.
• Conducts daily quality checks to identify any potential quality issues with food products.

Secondary Functions of the Inventory and Quality Specialist:

• Participate in Food Lifeline committees as appropriate and requested by manager
• Informs others of concerns that will impact the operations of Food Lifeline.
• Identify and implement process and coordinate activities.
• Attends weekly/monthly meetings related to work responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Specific Job Skills:

• Knowledge of inventory controls, product distribution, shipping, and receiving activities.
• Ability to resolve conflicts using negotiation and mediation skills.
• Knowledge of food storage and food handling techniques.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to read and interpret such as policies and procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. Ability to perform more advanced math concepts such as statistical analysis and number manipulation.
• Skill in using computer software to accomplish word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail. Strong inventory system, accounting software, and database skills.
• Skill in data entry/typing/10 key operations.
• Ability to identify and solve problems while coordinating with other decision makers to reach a positive resolution.

Education and/or Experience:

• Associates degree in Accounting, Inventory Management or Control or related preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or training and/or experience may be substituted.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with inventory control required. Prior experience with cycle count programs and use of an ERP system preferred.
• Required to possess a state of Washington Food Handler's License or able to be licensed within 30 days of hire.

Job Conditions:

Position works extensively on computer in an office setting where there is adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation. Frequent visits made to warehousing areas where incumbent will be subject to changes in temperature and noise. Warehouse work occurs near moving power and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet movers, dollies, hand trucks, etc. Position requires overtime at times, and some weekend and evening work may be necessary.

Physical Demands:

Work requires extended periods of sitting, use of desktop computer terminal, and the ability to frequently lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Work requires frequent walking and standing on concrete surface; occasionally needing to stoop, bend or reach. Requires frequent contact with food products.
