Are you looking for a way to help your child get ahead in the summer months? My name is Tim Walsh, and I am a committed writing tutor with 16 years of experience helping students from kindergarten through high school. I specialize in identifying the specific stumbling blocks that keep each child from realizing his or her potential as a competent, confident writer. I can guarantee that you will see improvement in your child before the new school year.
I believe that each student is more than capable of identifying their own errors with the proper guidance, and I base some of my instruction on helping students learn to proof-read their own work. Your child's level of confidence with their own writing is as important as their skill set, and it will always be my goal to help foster a student's feelings of positivity in their own work. I see tutoring as a process that demands constant student assessment, so that emerging abilities can be nurtured and lingering difficulties addressed.
I'm always interested in hearing what parents have to say about their own child's writing skills and difficulties, and am very open to hearing what previous teachers have said about your student.
My experience includes teaching the SAT and ACT essay sections, college application essays, science reports and presentations, book reports, persuasive essays, expository writing, and writing for the pure fun of it. I have a lot of ESL tutoring experience as well. In many cases, I have included reading help in my tutoring.
My fee is $50 per hour. I am willing to travel between the University District and central Shoreline. I have daytime and evening hours available. I suggest that sessions last from one hour to an hour and thirty minutes.
Please feel free to email me with your details and your hopes for your child. I will respond promptly. I look forward to working with you!
