This piece of furniture-art was built from foraged driftwood found on lake and river banks in rural forests. The 4 dark-stained legs are former fir-tree roots, and the foot-stool platform is honed from the base of a cut cedar tree. The golden glow comes from careful sanding and finishing with beeswax. Nothing was ever cut from live wood; along with other pieces, the artists selected only downed and beach-side driftwood. The wood is carefully trimmed to enhance the patterns, showing grain and knots; then once a shape is "seen" in the wood, it is further shaped to provide a useful piece of furniture. This amazing business is no longer in the market to sell their diverse and beautiful products, but I am fortunate to have this one, along with some small wall-hanging items. And given that I'm likely to be moving to a smaller home soon, this is the only one I can bring myself to sell. I will deliver free of charge within a 50 mile radius from my home in Seattle.
