Antique vintage turn of the century Victorian Arts & Crafts Mission style oak sewing rocker that features a hidden drawer underneath the seat for storing sewing supplies. Solid oak, sturdy and in good vintage condition.
The design is characteristic of the American Arts & Crafts movement, also known as Mission style, which emphasizes simple, straight lines and functional design. Similar examples have been attributed to prominent makers such as Gustav Stickley or L. & J.G. Stickley. These chairs are often dated to the turn of the 20th century, circa 1900–1910.
The seat platform is not original and is upholstered with black vinyl. It probably would have been leather, maybe in black, although possibly in a fabric pattern or even needlepoint. You could keep it as is or do anything you like with it.
