We took this Regulator with us to Mexico to protect our electronic equipment. It would regulate the incoming voltage and would raise or lower the voltage to output of 110v. The unit is designed to disconnect if it can not control the voltage like a surge protector but we did not have that happen. It worked Great and we were able to use it where we would not have been able due to the voltage being to high.
