Preschool/After School Teacher (Magnolia)

About this Job:
Kaleidoscope School is a highly thought of and well respected preschool program in the Magnolia neighborhood.
We are looking to hire a teacher to lead our After School Program 5 days per week, and also to co-lead our “Lunch Hour” on Tues, Wed, and Thurs.

We’d like someone to start as soon as possible. Must give at least one year commitment.

Job Description/duties:
Plan and set up activities for enrolled children.
Walk to Magnolia and Blaine Schools to pick up enrolled children.
Supervise activities, including outdoor play, walking back to Kaleidoscope, serving snack, homework time, free play, art projects, and special planned activities.
Communicate with supervisor and with parents about children’s progress, behaviors, mood, etc.
Attend monthly staff meetings.
On Tues, Wed, and Thurs, help supervise 12 kids aged 2-4 during a “lunch hour.”

Requirements:
Experience working with children aged 5-9 in group settings.
Education (or taking classes) in education, recreation, or related fields.

Hours:
Monday and Friday, 1:45-6:30
Tues/Wed/Thurs, 11:40-6:30
TOTAL 30 Hours Per Week

We believe that all learning happens in the context of a relationship, and value the relationships with build with children and their families. We feel that our most important mission is to protect children's time to PLAY, and do not believe in the "pushing down" of academics to early childhood.
