This has been a long term project of mine that I've lost interest in finishing and am not driving enough to justify keeping it around. I'm hoping to find a good home for it that will enjoy this unique truck. I have way too many details for all the modifications that I have done, but I will try to at least give a taste of everything that has been done.
This was the merging of 2 trucks, both are 59's. The majority of it is a GMC 3/4 ton, except for one front fender and the cab. The cab is a 59 Chevy, which means it has the single gauge cluster instead of the multiple round gauges that the GMC had - which I personally like better. It has the LED Daytona gauge cluster installed. The current engine and transmission is a chevy 350 that was modified a bit and a TH350. I was never planning on keeping that drive train, and built a turbo'd LS-family engine, 5.3L from a 2001 Tahoe. I bought a used 4L80E to go with it and pretty much had it done and ready to go in, but never got around to installing it. I was following a build sheet for a mild tune of 550HP. The 350 engine, I also followed a build sheet and it is supposed to make 400HP.
It is RWD, I bolted on a front end from a 95 G20 chevy van, with calipers and rotors. To get the height right, I added 2 inch drop spindles. I used a Mustang2 steering rack. The rear end is the original Spicer 60 from the GMC, but I shortened it to fit the rims and tires, powder coated it, added Wilwood calipers, and added TrueTrac locker. The gearing is 3.8:1 if I remember correctly. The rims are 17x8", if I remember correctly. I wanted to be able to run standard truck tires.
It has an aftermarket aluminum radiator with electric fan - it is very efficient, no problems with over heating. It has an A1000 fuel pump, also way over kill, with the plan of using that with the turbo engine. It has a rear mounted 20 gallon aluminum tank. The bed is 1/4 inch aluminum diamond plate. I added a 12K pound winch that is hidden under the radiator. I added 2 battery mounts underneath the bed, but never finished making the cables needed to finish it. There is also a Rotopax 3 gallon fuel can hidden under the bed.
The seats are Summit race seats with custom welded aluminum seat mounts. I was going to make a brace loop for the seats and the 4-way belts, but never finished it. The column is a tilt column out of a chevy. The steering wheel is quick disconnect.
I could go on and on, but if you are interested, ask away. The turbod engine and 4L80E comes with it. I'm not in a rush to sell, so please don't make silly offers. Thanks
