The Saab Viggen was, at the time, the fastest Saab ever made, featuring the largest turbo booster in a production vehicle (topping at 20psi). Only 34 units in this specific configuration were ever imported into the US, so this is a very rare car, and it still drives like a dream.
I absolutely love this car! But I have owned and cared well for it for 18 years, and it is time to get something newer.
The car is in excellent mechanical shape and runs superbly well; once in 2nd/3rd/4th gears, it can pass almost any car on the road. The turbo is in top shape, and still a pure joy to drive on single lane roads when you need to pass in a short distance. The 150k mile service was done last week, and new tires were installed. It is full stock, other than the standard wear and tear parts. I have all service receipts, and in the past 2-3 years I have replaced the gas pump, throttle cable, break pads, trunk struts (and lots of other stuff), and it also has a 1-year old DIC (the old one is also included; it was still working when replaced). Always serviced by Saab experts in the Seattle area (Dealership, Scanwest, Moe's).
Body and interior are very good, especially for a car this age (my friends still give me compliments on how well kept it looks, and still turns some heads); never smoked in, no rust, and virtually always hand-washed. It has been garaged for 85% of its life, and only driven 1-2 times/week for the past 14 years (I walk to work); most of its miles are on the highway.
The things that are not so good are, for the most part, cosmetic. The front bottom spoiler is partially cracked (can only notice it if you bend down to look at it), there are minor paint dings (only seen up close, not from more than 3 feet away), a slight scruff on the front bumper cover, and some curb rash on the rims. It is also missing 2 jack-point covers. Inside, the driver's mat is worn out, and the SID and AC screens have many missing pixels -- though all electronics work fine. Update: a pre-sale inspection found a small leak from the steering rack; not enough to worry, perhaps just top off fluid with every oil change. No other issues were found.
The car has been in 2 accidents, and in both cases it was not moving. The first time (in 2001) a garbage truck hit it while parked, and damaged the rear passenger door (fully replaced by insurance); the second time, a motorcycle ran into the corner of the rear bumper while traffic was at a standstill, causing only body damage to the bumper cover, corner lights, and some scratching (all perfectly fixed by insurance). VIN available if you would like to verify via Carfax, etc.
Comes with: 2 working key fobs, extra set of rims (some bent and with curb rash, but still useful?), roof rack bars (hard to find!), a vial of matched touch-up paint, and original Saab promo/literature.
