Mathematics in Context is the American version of the celebrated Netherlands middle-school mathematics program that is regarded world-wide as one of, if not the best, math teaching systems in the world for nearly four decades now.
It emerged out of a National Science Foundation grant to the University of Wisconsin--Madison & the Freudenthal Institute at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
As usual the back-to-basics and common-core folks have completely misunderstood these more creative, student-centered curriculums or simply can't comprehend or implement them correctly (as with the Seattle School District and "Connected Math").
--This is a great way to enhance your conventional math program or even revolutionize it if you teach at some private school that gives you the freedom to choose your own curriculum.

This set includes the Teacher Resource and Implementation Guide, 12 teacher guides and 24 of the 40 total student texts.
