This wonderfully detailed mid-century American desk was designed by John van Koert for Drexel's "Counterpoint" line in 1956. According to Drexel the collection was inspired by a musical variation in which each piece could flow into the other and harmonize with furniture outside of the Counterpoint collection. Made of beautifully grained cherry and ripe mahogany (maybe also walnut?). It has four drawers with dovetail joints, with recessed pulls and a 6" side ledge that extends out to 22" so you can expand your work space as needed. Drexel's maker's mark remains intact inside one of the drawers. Has minor wear including dings on the leg edges and small areas of missing veneer on the desk’s bottom drawer sides. Good condition overall.
In excellent condition this desk sells for 6k-ish, as it's pretty rare.
