This 4-Element beam is the King of Antennas. Includes New Controller.. The copper-berylium strips have been coiled up and covered.. Here's the nomenclature from the SteppIR 4-element Yagi manual:
**Structural Components**
- **Boom Assembly** — the main horizontal boom (4E model, 32 ft)
- **Mast Plate** — boom-to-mast mounting plate (12" × 0.187")
- **Boom Truss Assembly** — support truss to prevent boom sag
- **Counterweight** — balance weight for the 40m dipole option
- **Sweeps / Poly Sweeps** — tapered fiberglass end caps/fairings on the boom tips
- **Sweep Diverter** — diverts water/ice from sweep joints
- **Diverter Cone** — prevents water intrusion at element entry points
- **EST (Element Support Tube)** — the hollow telescoping fiberglass poles that house the CuBe tape; 4-section, 18 ft when extended
- **Foam Plug Assembly** — seals the tip of each EST
**Element Drive Components**
- **EHU (Element Housing Unit)** — the motorized housing at the center of each element; contains the stepper motor, sprocket, and copper-beryllium tape spools
- **EHU, 40m Driven** (1 per antenna) — driven element EHU, handles lower frequencies
- **EHU, 20m Passive** (3 per antenna) — reflector and director EHUs
- **EHU Lid** — weatherproof cover for each EHU
- **Copper-Beryllium (CuBe) Tape** — the conductive element; 0.54" wide × 0.008" thick perforated tape that extends into the ESTs
- **Stepper Motor** — brushless motor that precisely drives the CuBe tape via sprocket
**Wiring / Control Components**
- **Connector Junction Box (DB36, 4E)** — central wiring hub that distributes control signals to all 4 EHUs; uses a 36-pin D-sub connector
- **dSub Splice / Field Splice (25-pin D-sub)** — connector for joining control cable runs
- **4-Conductor Control Cable** — carries signals from the controller to the junction box (16 wires total — 4 per element × 4 elements)
- **Terminal Strips** — internal wiring connections inside the junction box
- **33V Power Supply** — required for control cable runs over 200 ft
**Controller**
- **SDA 100** or **OptimizIR** — the shack controller that sets element lengths; supports CAT interface for automatic tuning from the transceiver
**Optional / Accessory Items**
- **6m Passive Element Kit** — adds two short passive elements (4E Short and 4E Long 6m passive), turning the antenna into a 6-element Yagi on 6m
- **40/30m Loop (DB36)** — folded dipole loop element that replaces the standard driven element to enable 40m and 30m operation (elements ~40% shorter than full-size, with only 0.3 dB gain penalty)
- **QD (Quick Disconnect Boot)** — rubber weatherproofing boot at cable junctions
- **Polyolefin Heat Shrink** — used to weatherproof telescoping pole joints
