Great Anchor - FX55 Fortress/type. Aluminum, sail boat, large yacht anchor for “52-55ft” (or 30-45ft, oversized)
Viking- made in NZ, a precursor identical match to well known Fortress Guardian anchors- model FX-55 specifically, weight 33-34lbs and ~4ft6in x 3ft2in
Hard to beat “holding power to weight ratio” especially for sand and mud bottom types, perfect ‘worst case scenario’ storm anchor. Bonus, can be disassembled / stored in the bilge.
You can find a fx55 online starting about $900-$1k, and you can look at prices for others with equivalent holding power like Rocna and Mantus.
A perfect primary anchor choice on a racing sailboat or powerboat trawler yacht.
Not really negotiable on price, I wouldn’t mind holding onto it but sold boat .. I don’t know if it will be the right size for ‘the next boat’.
Thanks again for looking and good luck on your gear search !
Size chart says: 52-58ft. For “day” sailing. For a Bluewater Cruising Sailboat I’d oversize(2 sizes)- so fits ~32-45ft perfectly as a storm/ worst case hurricane scenario anchor to save your boat.
