Groundskeeper / Maintenance Support (Sanctuary) — Part-Time (5–10 hrs/week)

One Heart Wild is a nonprofit behavioral health agency and animal sanctuary providing trauma-informed, nature-based, animal- and equine-assisted therapy for youth, teens, and families. Our sanctuary environment needs steady, practical upkeep to stay safe, functional, and welcoming for clients, staff, volunteers, and animals.
Position Summary
We’re seeking a reliable, safety-minded Groundskeeper / Maintenance Support person to help with routine property upkeep and minor repairs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work outdoors, can work independently, and takes pride in keeping a space cared for.
Key Responsibilities
General groundskeeping: weeding, raking, shoveling, trimming, clearing debris, keeping walkways and common areas tidy
Basic maintenance and minor repairs (as skills allow): simple fixes, tightening/patching, replacing small hardware, troubleshooting small issues
Assist with seasonal tasks (as needed): storm cleanup, preparing areas for visitors, basic winterization support
Safely operate and/or drive equipment as needed (based on experience), such as small utility vehicles or similar property equipment
Communicate needs and observations (e.g., safety hazards, broken items, supply needs) to the supervisor
Required Qualifications
Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather
Skilled with basic tools and able to follow safety practices
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
Able to do physical work including shoveling, bending/kneeling, and working bent over weeding for periods of time
Able to drive equipment (as applicable) and operate vehicles safely
Dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision
Respectful of a therapeutic environment (quiet, calm presence around clients and animals)
Able to pass a background check
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Prior experience in groundskeeping, farm/ranch work, landscaping, facilities, or maintenance
Familiarity working around animals (especially horses)
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
