These clam guns made from a 4-inch diameter PVC sewer pipe are effective, lightweight, and rust-proof tools for harvesting razor clams. The tool creates suction to extract clams from deep, wet sand - so much easier than the traditional clam shovel!
Razor clam beaches in Washington include Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis, and Mocrocks. Before you go, remember to get your Washington State recreational fishing license!
How to Use:
1. Locate: Find a clam hole ("dimple") and place the gun slightly offset (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) toward the ocean side.
2. Insert: Push the gun straight down, slightly angling it toward the ocean, while wiggling it to go deep.
3. Seal and Lift: Plug the top vent hole with your thumb, and pull the tube of sand up, ideally with the clam inside.
4. Release: Release your thumb from the vent hole to allow air in and the sand/clam to come out.
