This unit is a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, and the wireless implementation is IEEE 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4 GHz.
The Wi-Fi implementation includes guest accounts that can be enabled and disabled with ease. There are also parental controls via software allowing you to block content or restrict usage to certain domains. This model also features a security key, which ensures transmissions to and from the device are encrypted and protected. The Netgear N450 also features two Universal Serial Bus 2.0 ports. One port is located at the front of the device, and the other is located on the back panel. These USB ports allow you to connect a wide range of USB peripherals to this unit. Attaching an external hard drive that everyone has access to is a common usage. You may also attach printers and similar devices.
