I'm looking for a highly skilled electronics technician to help build several working prototypes. These are quick, hands-on jobs for someone experienced in PCB assembly, soldering, and modifying existing consumer electronics.
This is ongoing work as new prototypes are developed.
Current Projects
Project 1 – Birdie (Golf Smart Grip)
Tasks include:
Solder male header pins onto Beetle ESP32-C3 boards
Solder OLED display headers
Assemble small prototype electronics
Build perfboard prototypes
Clean, professional solder joints
Test continuity after soldering
Verify operation before completion
Target time:
Install/solder Beetle headers in a timely manner
Clean workmanship with no cold joints or bridges
Project 2 – BullBluff Smart Dartboard
This project involves modifying an existing electronic dartboard into a modern ESP32-controlled prototype.
Tasks include:
Analyze existing dartboard electronics
Identify ribbon cable pin assignments
Reverse engineer sensor matrix
Build a perfboard interface module (BCM)
Integrate ESP32 with existing hardware
Preserve existing sensor matrix
Interface with original ribbon cable without damaging it whenever possible
Prototype connections before permanent soldering
Install Phoenix connectors
Build removable serviceable wiring harnesses
Perform continuity testing
Assist in power conversion from battery operation to wall power
Recommend proper connectors and interface methods
Experience with matrix scanning, multiplexing, or keyboard matrices is a major plus.

I have all the materials needed except soldering platforms with vices and magnifying glasses.
Ideally, after we've talked, we meet. You solder and we test multiple components for the Birdie project on the breadboard. If everything works, we schedule the next meeting.
