This Eckel portable anechoic is chamber is ideal for the acoustic testing of small acoustic devices such as headphones, earbuds, telephones, microspeakers, tablets and laptop PCs, and hearing aids. Eckel chambers are a standard in the audio and acoustic test industry, and the opportunity to purchase these systems second-hand does not come along often. This chamber was originally purchased for use in a large audio product test facility, but due to space constraints was never deployed and thus sat unused in storage. The storage space was recently needed, so this chamber had to go. It has been lightly used since then and is in as-new condition, with the exception of some minor exterior scuffs due to moving between storage locations. The chamber comes with the cart, as well as a touch-up paint kit. A line drawing of dimensions is available upon request.
This chamber features the following:
1. 6” thick (STC 56) modular panels with a perforated interior face with a painted finish.
2. Panels damped with 1” sheetrock and also furnished with a floating septum.
3. Four lifting eyebolts.
4. One 2’-4” wide by 2’-4” high clear opening door.
5. 12 Hertz neoprene isolators.
6. Two 3” diameter pass through sleeves.
7. Cart with casters.
8. 1200lb gross weight, including cart
Transportation will be your responsibility. You will need a 16' box truck or larger with a liftgate capable of lifting 1500+lb safely, and at least two individuals to help load it. You will also need ratchet straps to secure it, and packing blankets to protect it during your local move.
Cash, bank check, PayPal, and Venmo accepted at time of pickup. Trade would be considered for certain high end audio test and measurement equipment, or recording studio equipment (mics, preamps).
Eckel Industries is well known for their expertise in creating optimal sound environments for acoustic testing. Founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1952, they helped to create the world’s first Anechoic Chamber at Harvard University. Since then they have pioneered chamber design for use in product testing from cell phones to cars to jet engines, helping engineers and manufacturers achieve exceptional quality standards.
