This chair goes by several names: saddle, barrel, fireside, or Roman. According to the label, it was made by Stomps-Burkhardt, of Dayton Ohio. Oak, with seat and back tiger oak veneer. Made some time after 1890 when the Stomps company became Stomps-Burkhardt. The two lions heads are a common feature of this company.

My chair's label was not well preserved, but is visible and might be brought back by a professional (see photo). There are three areas of repairs as shown in the last two photos. I've owned the chair since 1974, where I purchased it in Tennessee.
