Transportation Operations Manager
A growing courier and cargo services provider serving national companies is seeking experienced Transportation Operations Manager.
Primary function of this is position is to efficiently manage the daily operations of our local fleet or employee and contractors, communicate with dispatchers and other regional managers . The Operations Manager will ensure the proper utilization of resources such as contractors, vendors, employees, transportation software, GPS tracking and equipment. This position will measure, track and report a variety performance metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. The Manager will ensure timely and efficient performance, while meeting shipping requirements of our customers.
Additional responsibilities includes managing, controlling, planning, organizing, leading and directing the operation as well as the enhancement of customer relations, the establishment and maintenance of procedures and targets to ensure customers requirements are met or exceeded. This position will also work on various programs involving DOT compliance, HOS monitoring, and the development of cost reduction initiatives
The ability to manage various tasks and meet daily deadlines is essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will have effective interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude working in a team-oriented environment. Must possess the ability to work with sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Candidates must be computer proficient with all Microsoft Office software applications. Experience with GPS systems, Mappoint, or similar transportation software preferred.
Preferred requirement is a Bachelors degree in Business Management, Logistics, or related field required. In lieu of educations, 4 to 7 years experience in transportation management required. Must have thorough knowledge and experience with DOT regulations.
