Production Assembly Technician III (Temp to Perm)


This position is responsible for performing production assembly tasks of moderate to high complexity on mechanical components, subassemblies, and final assemblies in compliance to the company quality manual and workmanship standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform multiple assembly operations according to documented assembly procedures. Processes may include such operations as gluing, press fittings, welding, soldering, crimping, and heat sealing and mechanical assembly using qualified tools such as hand tools, microscopes, comparators, calipers, micrometers and other optical and inspection equipment.
• Responsible for processing acceptable parts and screening out defects according to documentation. Use considerable judgment and established quality standards to determine acceptability of non-standard parts or assemblies.
• Demonstrate written and oral communication skills by participating in the generation of an ECO through its completion and training to the new revision.
• Test and evaluate finished assemblies using test fixtures, instruments or tools, following drawings and procedures. Use considerable judgment and visual and audible cues to detect non-standard assemblies.
• Provide guidance/training to team, including assembly techniques, documentation procedures and process flow methods.
• Interact with engineers, technicians and other departments to initiate and contribute to process improvements.
• Demonstrate a broad understanding of production processes.
• May provide work leadership by solving problems with sound experience based judgment.
• Promote quality manual, workmanship standards and regulations among team members and display strong quality consciousness at all times.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Manage time effectively. Support production by moving around without input from the lead.
• Perform complex rework, if necessary.
• Work independently from verbal or written instructions on special assigned projects.
• May perform chemical processes and solvent cleaning, following written procedures and drawings.
• Perform various housekeeping tasks, including cleaning of work stations, personal lockers, etc.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures while ensuring quality work.
• Handle changing priorities, schedules and other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of eighteen months assembly work (mechanical preferred) or related work.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to use basic math skills and applications including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division (able to understand decimals).
• Maintain harmonious working relations with others. Act as a highly professional example in a team member and leader role.
• Must have well-developed manual dexterity skills.
• Manage time effectively; take initiative to aid fellow assemblers and lead.
• Ability to recognize equipment/tooling malfunctions and detect irregular or deficient product.
• Diagnose or troubleshoot problems and determine root cause.
• Demonstrate understanding and competence with applicable written manufacturing and associated procedures.
• Ability to understand complex procedures and follow mechanical drawings.
• Strong leadership, training and interpersonal skills.
• Assemblers using laser equipment may require an eye examination.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
• Work in a clean room area where approved garments, including gloves, bonnet, booties, smock and safety glasses or safety goggles must be worn. Follow proper procedures for minimum particle generation.
• Perform continuous repetitive assembly tasks.
• May dispose of and have frequent exposure to potentially hazardous materials and glue fumes.
• May spend extensive periods of time using microscope.
• May be required to lift and load up to 30 lbs from a standing position to a minimum height of 5 feet.
