Network Administrator

The Network Administrator role is to manage and ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, backups, and communication links. The position requires experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a timely manner as set forth by the business needs of the agency. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Consejo is a private, not for profit organization, founded in 1978 to provide culturally competent mental health and family support services in King County. Our services focus on, but are not limited to the Hispanic/Latino community. Consejo is committed to providing education, prevention, treatment and support services related to mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence.
Responsibilities
•Plan and execute implementations of new applications and systems
•Providing lab support to configure, troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN, remote access, communications issues
•Performing necessary maintenance and configuration tasks on core and gateway network infrastructure such as switches and routers, firewalls, remote access devices (VPN, secure terminal servers), voice (VoIP), and the supporting cabling infrastructure
•Focusing on the network technology areas and production-systems tasks necessary to run the lab
•Implementing and operating defined network architectures, standards, and designs
•Performing routine operational tasks and maintenance such as configuration management, archiving and storage, device monitoring and event log management for network devices
•Builds networks and helps maintain both external and internal web presence.
•Performs system backups on all network servers.
•Designs and supports server system(s) and supporting software
•Installs, configures and manages network servers to maximum availability and performance.
•Maintains user accounts and implement server security procedures.
•Recommends new hardware/software to maintain a high standard of performance and to meet user growth requirements.
•Ensures that all system administration functions comply with our client's SOPs and Information Technology SOPs.
•Establishes and maintains appropriate system backup procedures and policies
•Oversees external contract hardware and software services.
•Identifies and recommends hardware/software/process standards
•Manages, monitors, and reports Data Center environmental controls
•Monitors and notifies any connectivity problems detected with production servers.
•Is willing to be on-call.
•Documentation of all processes and procedures
•Documentation of systems
Requirements
•A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and work experience is required.
•Requires a minimum of 3-5 years as a Network Administrator in a LAN/WAN environment, with knowledge of switches, routing, and security administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
•Good project management skills
•Understanding of various PC operating systems
•Knowledge of Anti-virus products
•Network skills (i.e., understanding of tcp protocols, routing, firewalls)
•Must be able to configure application VPN appliances
•Must be able to troubleshoot VPN connectivity issues
•Requires good customer service skills
•Must be able to communicate clearly w/ non-technical customers..
•Extensive knowledge/experience of Microsoft server 2008/2003 and active directory
•Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet business needs
•Ability to work with 3rd party vendors in order to support all 3rd party applications.
•Ability to troubleshoot and resolve high level technical issues involving multiple systems and networks;
•Expert in Windows based operating systems in an Enterprise environment
•Able to design, implement, and maintain a large numbers of systems, software, and services based on the Enterprise needs.
•Must be able to design, implement, and maintain a solution to meet the needs of the Company.
•Able to resolve issues in all aspects of the network group including networking, application, telecommunications, security, and monitoring
•Flexibility to learn new technologies determined by business needs
•Must be willing to work after hours to minimize impact on business
•Able to work well with all areas of Information Systems department
•Microsoft Certifications preferred
•Cabling and rack configuration experience and the ability to lift lab equipment is a must.
