Job Description

We are a small but established Seattle software company that is in immediate need of a Senior Support Engineer. Our organization is privately held, profitable and our customer base is growing.

Our primary offering is a software solution used by large organizations to track and manage physical assets using barcode and RFID technology. We’ve sold the solution to many large enterprises as well as mid to small-size businesses including Western Union, MGM/Mirage, Aflac, Pfizer, and others. As we expand, we require a responsible, capable, technically proficient support representative who can work independently to support our customer installations, ensure customer satisfaction and minimize costs to AMI.

Our software product spans a wide range of Microsoft technologies including ASP.NET, IIS, WinForms, Windows Mobile/CE, .NET Compact Framework, web services, and SQL Server. Proven experience with administration of these technologies is required.

In addition to traditional support engineering duties, there are software testing responsibilities as well - we’ve found that the person primarily responsible for supporting our clients is often the best at finding ingenious ways to break our software. If you can shift gears and focus on documenting all the issues you discover while testing and working with our software, this role may be a good fit for you. Any experience writing test plans and cases is a big plus.

C# programming skills and whitebox testing experience would be a welcome bonus skill. Windows Mobile development, administration and testing experience are also a major bonus.

Job responsibilities
• Owning and managing the defect and support case databases.
• Configuring Windows, IIS virtual directories, and SQL server databases.
• Deploying and configuring .NET applications, SQL Server databases.
• Deploying and configuring Windows Mobile applications and devices.
• Assisting customers with installation and troubleshooting of our enterprise software.
• Assisting customers with Windows Mobile device issues.
• Assisting customers with network connectivity, security and firewall issues.
• Debugging Windows, IIS and SQL Server configuration problems.
• Writing and executing blackbox test cases of web, mobile, and Windows applications.
• Filing and tracking defects and working with developers to drive them to closure.

Qualifications
• 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of senior technical support experience in an enterprise software environment.
• Proficiency with administering a Windows Server lab environment (virtual machines, Windows networking, security, general administration).
• Proficiency with SQL Server administration and T-SQL literacy.
• Experience testing, deploying, and configuring IIS and .NET applications (Applicants will be tested).
• Organized technical communication skills, English language proficiency, and the ability to concisely distill complex technical issues.

Desirable Skills
• Experience implementing whitebox testing, automated testing, and web test tools.
• C# programming skills.
• Experience with mobile device testing Windows Mobile devices.
