Summary:
Surreal Software, a division of WB Games Inc., has a new opportunity for a smart and experienced Software Engineer, QA Tools who will focus on game quality in the Software Engineering department as well as development infrastructure for our current and future open world game titles. Our current title is “This is Vegas” – a humorous twist on the open world genre with an incredible cast of characters! This open world technology-base will be used for other future game titles on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. This engineer works closely with the Programming team to create and maintain tools to facilitate build releases, automated tests, stability tracking, debugging of code, and otherwise improving the quality and stability of the code base.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain tools, builds, scripts and code for tracking, testing, and debugging game code and content.
Facilitate the release of builds to the team, including integration of necessary changes and bug fixes between various branches of the code.
Maintain databases and help track down bugs and other issues within the team.
Thoroughly test and coordinate with QA and other departments to ensure successful deployment of new features and code changes to the team.
Develop low-level technical plans for assigned tasks, working with the Engineering Leads and other department stakeholders.
Work Experience:
Prior experience working in the game industry or similar required.
3 - 6+ years experience with C/C++.
Experience with web-based tools, including PHP, mySQL, and Javascript.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:
B.S. degree in CS/CSE/EE/Math/Physics or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge/Skills:
Fundamentals of Software Engineering testing.
Experience debugging large robust systems.
Database management and query languages
Scripting tools and management of large amounts of code and content.
Microsoft Visual Studio development environment.
Excellent Perforce skills or similar source control system.
Other Requirements:
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver.
Ability to collaborate with engineers and content creators in an open, team environment.
