Summary:
Surreal Software, a division of WB Games Inc., has a new opportunity opening for a smart and experienced Lead Programmer who will focus on core engine development and optimization for our current and future open world game titles. Our current title is “This is Vegas” – a humorous twist on the open world genre with an incredible cast of characters! This open world technology-base will be used for other future game titles on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. As a lead engineer, this position will manage a group of engineers to develop, maintain, and optimize cross-platform systems and tools, examples of which include: streaming, graphics, animation, physics, and various other low-level systems. This engineer will also prioritize work, develop plans and work with production to schedule and assign tasks to team members.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead a group of engineers in the development of new systems and tools in addition to leveraging newest technologies while maintaining a stable code base.
Work closely with technology directors, game designers, level designers, artists, and producers to develop the technical designs, engineering schedules, and game systems.
Hold departmental meetings to gather feature requirements and discuss implementation strategies.
Ensure successful deployment of new features and code changes to the team.
Work Experience:
Typically, incumbent has 5 to 10 years of software development experience in the game industry.
Experience developing for either Xbox360 or PS3 (preferably both).
5+ years experience with C/C++.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:
Minimum of B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge/Skills:
Leadership ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with coordinating, mentoring and building a cohesive programming team.
Experience with establishing clear coding best practices and lead regular code reviews.
Experience with large-scale console games programming at all stages of the life-cycle, including prototyping, production, and shipping.
Experience with memory management, multi-threading, cross-platform development.
Working knowledge of 3D math.
Experience architecting and debugging large robust systems.
Microsoft Visual Studio development environment.
