The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is an internationally renowned non-profit research institute dedicated to the study and application of systems biology. Founded in 2000 in Seattle, Washington, ISB's goal is to unravel the mysteries of cellular networks and identify strategies that will usher in a new era of P4 Medicine (predictive, preventive, participatory and personalized medicine).
The Cancer & Stem Cell Group in the Hood lab seeks a Research Scientist to join an interdisciplinary team conducting cutting-edge cancer and immunology research. The research scientist will be responsible for functional characterization of tumor cell subpopulations identified through ongoing global transcriptomic, proteomic, and single cell analyses, by using both in vitro and in vivo assays that aim to uncover tumorigenic cancer stem cells. The research scitentist will also participate in a multi-institution effort on transcriptomic and epigenomic analysis of helper T cell specification and plasticity.
The ideal candidate would have a PhD in life sciences, preferably in cancer biology, immunology, molecular and cellular biology. Extensive experience on flow cytometry, tumorigenesis assays, and animal models are required, as is hands-on skill in culturing primary tissues and mammalian cell lines. Experience in maintaining and differentiating various stem cell lines, in particular pluripotent stem cells and neurostem cells is highly desirable. Past experience must indicate scientific creativity, collaboration, and independent thought. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and a high degree of professional integrity. Must be adaptable to changing work requirements, and be willing to multitask.
